Salvadoran-American mezzo-soprano Karina Buruca-Kunda is a Dallas-based performer and educator with a passion for helping young singers build confidence, artistry, and healthy vocal technique. Alongside her performance career with The Dallas Opera and other regional organizations, she maintains an active private voice studio serving students throughout the DFW area.

Karina holds degrees in music education and vocal performance from Dallas Baptist University and Southern Methodist University, where she earned both a Master of Music degree and a Performer’s Diploma in Vocal Performance as a recipient of the Meadows Artistic Scholarship. Before transitioning fully into private instruction and performance, she taught middle school choir in Mansfield ISD, where her ensembles consistently earned sweepstakes ratings in concert and sight-reading evaluations.

Since 2018, Karina’s students have earned placements in Texas regional and all-state choirs as well as collegiate music scholarships. As both an educator and active performer, she is deeply committed to creating a supportive environment that helps singers grow in both artistry and confidence.
